I have a EW hobby gun and HAD a EW Pro gun. One of the problems with the hobby gun is the powder sticking to the metal prob in the tube (especially when humid). It will stop the powder getting the charge and the powder will just fall off. I found if you keep tapping it to knock the powder loose then it will stick (for a little while) then you have to do it again.
As far as the Pro gun. I found that I could do just as good with the hobby gun than I did with the Pro and could see no improvement. So I sent it back. Did not take long to figure that out.

the progun is a little better ... but i ordered the king coat, and i cant wait for it to arrive!

it would be awesome if the king coat had a way to quickly change cups like the EW progun

started a topic First cycle frame

    First cycle frame

I have been doing mostly work for a couple machine shops, with pretty good success.
This is the first motorcycle frame I have done. It is a custom built and “supposedly” there will be more plus all of the add on stuff.
This was done in PBTP’s Copper Vein with a clear coat. I managed to get both coats on without “Hot Flocking”.

I am using a hobby gun for now. I think I will be upgrading very soon.
I am looking at the china gun from PBTP. The only concern I have about it is the cup.
    (1) There is only one that comes with it. I would think there should at least be a second one.
    (2) It appears to be small, which could be good for some jobs. But usually when I am coating I do more than one job at a time. That makes me have to use different colors and sometimes different types of powder. Just how quickly and how thoroughly can you change and clean the cup and gun?
    (3) It should come with some type of adapter that would make it possible to use a larger container. A lot of the jobs I do use up a lot of powder.

Which brings up another question? I have seen comments that the gun works real well, and does a good job. What about the amount of powder used? Have you seen a big difference in the amount of powder used compared to other guns?

That is long winded enough for now.

Thanks for the opportunity to unwind and especially thanks for all the help so far.
Working...
