        Re: powder coating

I'm working on developing a steady work flow so that eventually my "hobby" business will take the place of my day job. Right now, I put in nearly as much time nights and weekends doing powdercoating as I do at my 8 to 5 regular job.

Same thing for me. I finally had to make a decision last year to go full time or just give it up all together. I walked away from a 20 year career in an engineering office in April of 2007. Haven't looked back since. HD is right, the days can get very long. Sometimes the days just run together. Most of my posts are at night, very late at night, after getting home from the shop. It's a hell of a living. It's dambed hard work too, but it seems like you're always working on something different. Hardly a boring day yet. So far, my work hasn't suffered a bit from seasonal changes, high fuel prices or any of the other 'normal' things that can cause a new business to have that roller coast 'hi/low' ride. I'd highly recommend going full time if your heart is in it - otherwise, it'll just be another job - and who wants a JOB? I'm making a living and having a blast! Most of the time I feel like I'm just playing in my shop with my toys, and getting paid to do it. I should have walked the MEP job 5 years ago
