    Re: j b weld anyone?

I've had luck with it. One time the powder didn't want to stick to the JB so I put in the oven for a few minutes & shot that spot.

I have, but as noted in the previous reply, it's not conductive.

If it was a small area you might be able to get away without hot flocking, but plan on it for larger areas.

Kinda like the others said, if it's a small area like pits in metal or something like that it works fine for me if it's to thick no luck. I don't know if the better guns would make any difference, all I got is a EW hobby gun.

I use it quite a bit. Its best to lightly coat the area the jb weld is on and fully cure then sand and coat the whole part it will not show that way.

Good looking repair job! How many layers did you have to put on for that big of a gouge?

                Two layers of JB weld.

I also use a product from Tiger called Epo Strong to skim the JB Weld with and fill any small pits. The Epo Strong is conductive and can be force cured. Another filler I use is called Quick Steel and it sets up really fast but you have to seal it with a light coat of cured powder or the Epo Strong because it has a tendency to leave a textured surface if you try to coat straight over it.

Is there more than one version of JB weld ( like lab metal high and lower temp )? I have a nick to fix in a rocker box top cover. Do you smooth it out as much as poss then air or oven assist dry then sand smooth or do both?

By force cured you mean you use a IR light or stick it in the oven?
