Here's my entry. My first try with PBTP Iron Gunmetal Glimmer. I think my gun spit or something. Never saw these craters until it flowed out. Its off to the blaster to remove because they are too deep to sand out. I think it was a combination of powder applied too thickly, and maybe too high atomizing air pressure. I can't find a tub big enough to strip these 22"ers in, so my commercial blaster will have the honors. They don't fit my blast cabinet and would take forever to do with my limited pressure and cfm anyway. The crappy part is, they are for the same guy that I did the gold wheels from h*ll for awhile ago.

Re: What are we effing up this week
Wise,
I was just thinking about you when I was doing some Glimmer a couple of minutes ago. I get on and see this thread and I was like...I hope these are not those 22's!
Those craters look like they are popping in not out? If your gun was spitting then they would pop up like a dirt particle.
I love this color and I effed it up on one item today when I forgot to set the temp lower for acrylic clear. It came out with a matte finish that actually looked good

They are actually craters that go in which you can see in the close-ups. If anyone has some idea what caused it, I'd like to hear it. Without a clear, this powder actually is quite matte. I'll post pics of the next one I did that already has clear on it. It really looks good. 1 down, now 3 more to go.

Those craters look like fish-eyes. Silicon or oil is your problem.Comment

Re: What are we effing up this week
All the marks are on the bottom half of the wheel from the way it was hanging. Instead of masking the back mating surface of the wheel, I used a camel-hair brush and a damp sponge to remove the powder that got on it. I'm pretty sure my clumsy attempt just knocked a bunch of powder debris into the overly thick coating. I had actually tried to use my air gun to blow it off first. Thats probably how the marks got on the front part of the wheel from blowing out of the wheel center and the lug holes. I admit, it was dumb. Same prep exactly as the next wheel that turned out fine. I masked that one instead of being lazy.Dan

Re: What are we effing up this week
There is no clear on it yet. That is just the basecoat. Check the Customer Pictures post for the ones that I did today. Here is the link. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=701&p=7481#p7481 See? I CAN do them WITHOUT screwing them up!Eventually!

Re: What are we effing up this week
Oh. I think it was just clumps of powder that I brushed off that dropped onto the powder layer. When I masked the back mating surface on the next 2, no problems since I didn't disturb anything after applying.Dan
