HOLY CR*P!!! well the powder attracks to the part very quick. the instructions aren't the best if you have very limited knowledge of a gun set up like this but not overwelming. the powder does get used up very fast and tends to build up in the barrel. you will deffinetly need some sort of metering device like a previous person posted (infact my friend is going to get me one from grainger tomorrow!). i think that maybe the hole at the bottom of the funnel that holds the powder is too large. i will keep you posted as i go!

Please do, I am seriously looking at purchasing one of these guns and I would really like to know what you think.

    Thanks.

Re: greenhorns first impression of china gun

I just got to use the King coat gun extensively today for the first time....

At first I was a little frustrated because the powder kept building up in the barrel and "farting" all over my parts. But I switched the tips to the one that is the flat vertical/horizontal/whatever you call it, and somehow that REALLY seemed to help me go through less powder and keep the powder from building up in the barrel. Don't know how it made so much of a difference by just switching that (did not change any air pressure settings), but after I changed that JEEZ did that gun work awesome compared to the EW Crap gun, errr, I mean EW Pro gun!!

A couple things though - don't be fooled by the 3 knobs on the control box - only one of them does anything at all. You might think the middle knob is doing something because the book says it does and it makes different noises when you adjust it, but if you open up the box you will see that the only thing it does is "waste-gate" air pressure to the gun. By turning the middle knob clockwise, basically all it does is "waste-gate" air from the pressure going to the gun, lowering the pressure to the gun, essentially the same thing as the furthest-to-the-left knob does.

Another thing - I don't know how good of a ground you will get if you are just using the ground clip from the box and nothing else. I did not have any problems or anything, and it seemed like I had a good ground, but when I opened up the control box (yeah, I'm on of those guys that has to take everything apart to see how it works) there is nothing attached to the prong where the ground wire comes into the box. On the power cable there is the ground prong that goes into the box, but on the inside there is nothing attached to it...

I think I am going to eventially add that valve from Grainger that has been mentioned and used - it can really go through the powder, but like I mentioned above, when I switched to the flat spray tip it somehow used less powder, or so it seemed.

i believe only two of the knobs are functional on that unit at this time, they would be air delivery and fluidized air.what i did was turn both knobs all the way down.air pressure to unit i ran through a regulator at 20-40 psi.fill the cup and pull the trigger, turn air delivery knob till powder starts to come out, may not even read on gauge,(manometer),when powder comes out evenly, adjust the fluidizing knob till you get a good cloud, mine is about 1/4 out, powder use should be lessened,at first my cup would empty in seconds, now i can do a whole rim just over a cup, mine also came with 3 ends, small large and flat, my best cloud is with the large end. also just in my opinion, more power is not always better, i use what makes the powder stick, the higher the voltage the more powder seems to pull through the gun, around 20-40kv, powder usage should be minimal.

You are correct on the knobs....this controller is also used with their box feeder unit.

Who were you refereing to being correct on the knobs? Panhead or myself?

The second knob on my gun does the same thing the first knob does, or at least on my gun anyway, maybe mine is somehow different. when I adjust the middle knob and turn it clockwise, it lessens the air pressure to the gun and I begin to hear air being released inside the control box. When I opened up the control box, the second knob only one tube attached to it and it T's right into the pressure tube on the first knob that goes to the gun. So by turning the second knob clockwise all I am doing is "wast-gating", or letting some of the pressure out inside the box that would be going to the gun - the same thing the first knob does.

I mean there is only one pressure hose going to the gun, how could multiple knobs do anything at all with one hose??

Panhead, when you turn the second knob clockwise do you bigin to hear air pressure releasing insid the control box? If so it's just like mine and it does nothing.

Sounds like the middle knob is intended for controlling the vibratory feature on the box feed setup. I would leave it all the way in (completely off).

What Grainger valve are you talking about? You don't happen to have a link do ya? Where do you place it on the gun and what gains will you get?

does anybody know if something is supposed to be conected to the threaded section on the bottom of the handle? or is this an "upgrade" for a hopper system?

IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS FOR THE FUTURE UPGRADE FOR A HOPPER CONVERSION.I DOUBT THAT I'LL GO THAT WAY.

I was told no. That hole is for converting this gun to a hopper unit.
