Hey guys. I've been lucking and random posting for quite a while now. Well, my garage converted to a shop is almost done and I can break the powder gun back out. I'll post pics of the new setup in the near future.
    I've got questions....
    Just to start though:
What are some good basic high demand powders to start with. I'm also looking for good powders to practice with too. I'll need lots of practice!!!!

I'd like to stick with PTPB powders at the moment so I don't have to break up the order.

      Re: Stock colors

NIC has a monthly closeout of powders that have either been discontinued or were mixed wrong (same deal with ceramics, specialty coatings, etc.). Either way, some of them are dirt cheap, less than buck/lb. Better to 'play' with that stuff than the more costly ones. You can sign up for a monthly newsletter at their site.

I dont know how much you wish to spend but there is an option for free powder with an order of $100.00 or more...most basic colors are the mirror products which is the free powder you get. The most difficult products to spray are the the candies and clears, you should contact technical support before you spray these. Feel free to contact us regarding recommendations at any time...

I forgot to add they have sample packs of different common powders.... Might be worth a shot looking into this.

Thanks for the tips. Powder samplers aren't very cost effective - the reason for asking what your high volume powders are. No suprise that the budget is always in the back of my mind.

As for how much - depends. I'll probably break $100. I'll look next week. Right now I'm sitting on the beach in Cape Cod sipping a beer.

I stock mirror black, mirror red, and mirror clear in 55 lb boxes. I keep 10-20 lbs of mirror white on hand too. These are my big users all others I buy in 1-5 lbs according to the job.

PCP has a good list to start with.
