Does anyone have a video of the King Coat being used? I'd like to see how well it works before I purchase one.

Sorry, you don't get the video until you buy the gun!

Kidding. Actually, they can't keep them in stock long enough to MAKE a video! Maybe someone who has the gun can post one soon.

I carry a gun because I'm too young to die, and too old to take an ass-whoopin'!

I was going to try to make one to help diagnose the problems I am having, but nobody is every around to hold the camera! I might try to make one over the weekend here.

Put the camera on a tri-pod, shelf or chair and just aim it at the part to be sprayed. You should be able to "watch" everything that's happening.

Yeah, that's jtsmith's video, but that is the eBay chinese gun, not the PBTP chinese (King coat) gun. About the same, but the eBay chinese gun has better powder flow and atomizing adjustments.

I thought the typical ideal spray distance is 8-15"? I see this guy getting as close as maybe 3"? When i do that I get starbursts in the powder.

Ok Flame proof jacket on............Over on the other forum there is a link for a Nordson gun, while checking it out I looked around and they have a video showing off their new system. The operator at the end of the vid sure isn't 8-15" away. Why does everyone say to be about a foot or more away from the parts?

It depends on your voltage setting. If you're cranked up to the max, you'll need to back away. The lower you pull the KV down, the closer you'll have to get to make the powder stick. Otherwise, near the bottom of the KV range, the powder just falls off the end of the gun. Air settings have the same effect. Depending on part shape and farraday issues, getting a good balance between KV & air, along with gun tip distance, is a learned technique - practice makes perfect.

                        Re: King Coat Video

I have been on the phone several times with James at PBTP that past couple weeks trying to figure out the back ionization problems with my gun. James says that you should be 12" max away from parts when coating them. When doing second and third coats he recommended being 3-6 inches from the part. That was the first time I had heard that info, because I had always read on the forums to be at least a foot away more like 18" away, but James has been in the biz for 30 years and coating all over the world.
