  • Looking for oven hot spot ideas

Hello, I'm looking to fix some hot spots in my oven. I want to fit larger items in the oven but when I get within 6-8 inches of the burners the powder gets cloudy (too hot I read somewhere) Any ideas on how to even out temp closer to the elements? I read that ceramic tiles would work, but are all tiles created equal? Or go buy the cheap drops at Home Depot. And would I be able to get an inch closer or would I be able to put a part real close to the tile? That would add about 40% addtional capacity to my oven. Quite substantial.

Here's the oven, it was a double and I cut out the center section. I had it up right but there was a 80 degree temp difference from the top to the bottom, so I turned it on it side.... Problem solved for the most part.

Maybe build a rack just above the elements and lay fire brick on top of the rack? That would at least dissapate the heat over a large surface area and your circulating fan should take care of the rest. Anyone else?

You could put a piece of 16 or 18 ga. sheeting one inch from elements may do the trick

I tried that and it inhibited the oven from getting up to temp at its highest setting.

I didn't think of fire brick, I could get that at a fireplace store right?

The fan did a great job of evening out the temp in there. When its not on the corners get really hot!

When you put the sheet metal in you left gaps at both ends and on both sides right?

you can drill 1/2" holes everywhere in the sheet metal except where the elements are to let heat through and keep direct radiant heat off parts
