  • Pricing a truck bed tool box?

Had an old working buddy drop buy today and he is picking up a new alum tool box for his truck and want it done in black. Its the right and left side flip up type and he is thinking the lids or around 22 to 24" deep. Its for a small truck. He said he can get the flip up ones in powder but not this type. So he was thinking about having Rino lining shot on it till he saw my sign. Any idea how to price it? And gee how much powder?

I don't know what a Rino person will charge for doing it? I will try to call around and see if I can get an idea so I will know what I am up against price wise. I know the Rino want scuff up like our powder if you lay things on it and drag it off but he is aware of that part.

Between $4 & $6 / S.F. is about the going rate for flatwork.

Thanks again CP. Now I have a price to start with for round and flat work.

I had a fence company call me and wanted a price on doing a 4x8 new sheet of expanded metal and that out did my oven height wise so I sent him to a guy 40 miles from here that I knew could do it. I contacted the coater and he said the person called and he gave a price now it was up to the customer if he wanted to pay that much? Looks to me that the price would not have be to bad because shooting expanded metal you would cover both sides real well just staying on one side? I did find out that the customer did not have a problem with the price but the general contractor did so not sure what they did on it? Going by your price it should have cost between 128 to a max of 192 of coarse there could have been a lot they wanted done and that could have added up quick and maybe put them over budget?

Expanded metal is one of the hardest things I have found to coat because its a fariday nightmare. I would rather coat rocks as to have to coat expanded metal.

Yep I was wondering the same thing when the person called me. But it was to big for my oven so I did not have to sound stupid and ask what it was. So after I got off the phone I typed in expanded metal and then my brain fell into place So type it in and you will see as I did. And then you will say well dag I see that all the time Gee I am one more step smarter by one more product now :lol

Low voltage, large gun to part distance and low booth airflow. I have done a fair bit of Expanded metal. Allways turns out great that way. basically bathe the metal in a cloud of powder LOL.

Acctually, a majority of my work is CNC plasma cut silloetes and such, cowboy pictures and Welcome signs. Flat sheets FULL of faraday area's. I shoot wrinkle black too. Pictureframing used to be horrible, with practice, I am getting them sweet now. I am still experimenting a little with the KV/uA on them though.
