  • General Powder Questions

I'm working on my first order and came up with some general questions. Sorry, but these are probably going to be REALLY noob questions.

    1. What is RAL????

    2. I understand there is different types of powders with their own characteristics but it seems there are more powder types than in the charts I've seen. This chart shows the differences but what about terms like Glyouril, Urethane & Polyester TGIC-Free?? Is the term TGIC interchangeable with Polyester?
    What about powders that don't list a formulation? Like http://www.powderbuythepound.com/catalo ... ts_id=1619

    3. Is Acrylic the only powder that doesn't play nice with the others? Can Acrylic clears be used over other, fully cured, powders?

-This one is on temperature - Hopefully I can get it from my head to your eyes and still make sense.

    4. How does temp and time play into curing a part? What I mean is the surface of a part is heated(powder too). We need to wait until the part comes up to temp. A small/thin piece will heat quickly and a large/thick part will take longer. How does the powder handle the extended time in the oven with out overcooking or burning??? The powder with heat up to say 400 pretty quick and will stay in the cooker for 10-20 minutes while a large part may be in for 40 mins or longer?

I should change my username to PITA!!

      Re: General Powder Questions

You can just ask them what type of powder it is if it's not listed. That one is a polyester.
