There is no warranty for the things you mentioned. You have no idea what the customer does/did to that part after it leaves your shop. He could pick up some parts and put them in the back of his pick up and bounce one down the road as he's driving home. Bring it back to you the next day and say it's scratched and chipped, are you now obligated to repair it? If it's a definite issue with workmanship, I'd offer to fix it. How far out after it was first coated, i don't know. Tough call there.
that statement is so darn true . i cant recall how many times i did stuff for the dirt track racers and i helped them carry stuff out to there truck and they would just toss it into the back , i was like wtf... especially if its those big parts that take awhile to prep . o well there money
but the waranty thing . the only thing that i will redo for free is if the part "flakes off" kinda like if you coat a peice of mill finished alluminum with no surface etching it will just peel off , simply becuase if it does this it was not preped enough which is the coaters fualt . thats all ill warrant
I state 1 year warranty on New steel, 6 months on Used metal. Now, that only covers the powder adhesion and rust issues. NOT the appearance. They leave my place Perfect, thats that. Just like a new painted car. You get your car painted, then slide across the hood trying to be cool, and scratch it, Will you think the painter will warranty??
ok,how about wearing off.(like foot pegs on a bmx,atv,dirtbike)????
No, no waranty on wearing off. Boots are just like sandpaper, little rocks and grit stuck in the soles. You wouldnt warranty something if you knew the owner took some 80 grit to it, would ya??
It kinda sux, but if they pester the warranty issue and such, why go PC if your not gona warranty. PC WILL last longer than paint. HOW long depends on how the item is used, though
I agree, for every item I PC, I bring the customer into the shop and show them thier item or items, inside and out under the best light possible. Before it leaves my shop, it is agreed between me and the customer that those items are acceptible. I tell them that it is guaranteed for craftmanship, (flaking and such). But i also tell them that if abused, PC will scratch and they need to take care of there item,(to a certain degree) to maintain it's (new painted look). So far no come backs....knock on wood.(I just totaly screwed myself)
