I personally dont like coating over ano. but that is me. It is harder to get even attraction over ano. When I do pegs I shoot all parts place in the oven and wait till the get to 250-275 and pull the pegs only back out and shoot another coat over them warm this will give you as much protection an the satin clear without having a color difference. If you have to disassemble the rear sets the big bolt that holds the shift/brake lever will need to be heated to remove it or you will strip them out. I use a propane torch and heat them up where the threads are and the come loose easily. I have several repeat customers with sport bikes one of them has about 35k on his bike since I did his pegs and they have wear only in a couple of spots.
Jason

Just had a guy bring me a lot of his removable quick parts like foot pegs gas tank lid and the like off his 07 Yamaha YZF R1 . If I am not mistaken these parts are like frosted anodized. To keep the anodized for protection I am thinking all I need to do is clean and prep and then shoot. All the parts are going a texture black and I told him I would shoot a satin clear over the foot pegs to help on the ware but told him over use its going to come off and he will have shinny tops and black in the groves.
When I did parts for is other bike I gave the parts a light blasting but that was before I knew you can just coat over anodized.
What the word on how you do parts like that. Got to have them back to him tomorrow evening.
