  • CLEAR OVER COPPER

ANYTHING SPECIAL ABOUT CLEARING OVER COPPER? I HAVE SEVERAL PIECES THAT THE CUSTOMER JUST WANTS A CLEAR COAT TO KEEP THE COPPER LOOKING SHINEY.

    Re: CLEAR OVER COPPER

I should work just as well as over other polished metals. Clean very will with rubbing alcohol and a soft lint-free cloth being sure to carefully wipe off all marks and streaks, a quick once-over with a torch to remove any fuzz or lint, and coat. As with any polished part, if you coat over a fingerprint or a smudge, it's there permanently.

    Best of luck.

Won't 400 degrees turn the copper blue and purple? I would think it might with thin copper like 22 gauge...

Good point. If you go at the full temp it might discolor it. Go with Harleydad's suggestion with the acrylic clear or other low-temp clear. Lower temp, and longer cure time.
