  • How Much Powder?

I have 5 of these to do. Thank goodness he is doing the blasting. Have a few pits to fill in on a couple of them. I guess it would be best to use the KL primer also for smoothing out if necessary and color coat and also clear. The powder does not have to be cleared but might be best?

How much powder do you think? And any idea on some pricing would help also. Just coating price will help any thing else I have to do will be by the hr.

Just did some of these. Mine were in what looks like the same condition that one is. Start to finish $145. EACH

    Fun time doing them

I thought I had seen one posted some where and I guess it was yours. What did you do to them before you coated? Did you use a primer?

Had to replace two of the spokes on one of them.
Blasted the H---- out of them all over, phosphate, clean, heavy coat of Almond, yellow on top, clear coated.
I like to use a light color under the yellow. I put the first coat on all of it.
I don't feel like you need a primer as such. Along as the blasting, phospate, and clean up is done right. I have not had any problems doing it.

Say Duke, I am having a problem with the pictures posted on this forum.
The ones that you have to download. After I do that all I get is a blake screen say there is no preview.
Also how do you post a picture and have it show up right with the text?

I use photobucket.com for most every thing. It can also re-size for you. Also you can set your camera for the right size and that will help you a lot. If I am going to just say post one picture I just take it off my computer but if I want to post more than one is when I upload to the photo bucket and then copy the IMG code (left click it) and then paste.
I wish more of the guys would use the free service so that the picture is there and don't have to click on each one. And then it has to download to be seen. Pain in the A for me and I don't click on them to often unless I have nothing else better to do if you understand what I mean.

              I got it thanks.

I was trying to send "My mug shot".

I agree on the downloading part. I am out in the country and only have %^**()&%#@ Dial up service. So most of the time like you I don't bother.

Thanks for the help. Hope the rims work out for you. A lot of work.
Got another set to do coming up next week. These are going to be in Red.

What type or brand of phosphate stuff do you use?

How big are those? I'm going to say you should order at least 3 lbs, probably 4 if it was me. They probably won't take that much, but I HATE running out.

Thanks, I was thinking 4 to 5 myself. I sent a color sample to NIC and they sent me back 3 and the man and I took all 3 samples and put them up to the truck that he used the color code on and found the best match and wouldn't you believe its the highest cost one at over $16 per lb. The other two were 11+ and 12+. But this one seemed to have the most metallic in it. Its one of the teal /blue/green colors that I would call twilight turquoise from a color that Ford had for my 65 Mustang. One thing about NIC they do have the sample panels and are quick about it. They don't have to wait till they get someone to shoot the color for you to have a sample but I do under stand why it can't always be with the guys we like to buy the most from.
They also sent me another sample back of a very lite yellow that hit the nail on the head also. All of these were in there pre made colors but not listed on their site.

OOPS size? They are very narrow and guess 18" or what ever the size was for the 30's chevy's were. Not like the 15 to 22" and 12" wide one's when have today for sure

                      Hey Duke,

I just did 5 that looked very similar, 34 Ford I was told. I used mirror red and a clear coat.
I ordered 4 pounds and have a little left over. Same for the clear.

                      Hope this helps, Wilbur
