  • Need price advice!

For the guys who do production work, what should I charge to do around 120 pieces every month or two of 6' long 4" dia heavy-wall steel pipe in Industrial Safety Yellow for protective bollards? I can probably rack 9 at a time for curing on my oven rack, but I'd still have to shoot them one at a time and hang on the rack as they're coated. Prep would involve wiping down with degreaser and using one-step phoshate pre-treat that doesn't require a rinse.

    Thanks in advance.

I'll have to research those items to fill in the blanks, Harleydad. I'll get back to you.

      Thanks!

120 total parts done in batches of 9 parts

        Give me this info:

        Racking time (per batch)
        Pre-Treatment time (per batch)
        Application time (per batch)
Oven time and temp (per batch)
Powder cost per lb. and S.G. (specific gravity)
Target mils and T.E. ( transfer efficiency, what do you think it'll be. 60%, 70%, ???)
        What % mark up?
I like the way you think.

Oh yeah....I still have to get back to you. It might be Friday before I get the chance. The day job is rediculous busy right now. I barely have time to check the forum 3 or 4 times a day!

Thanks Harleydad. I still hadn't had time to actually sit down and fill in the blanks for you. I'm also going to try and find out what they ended up paying for the first batch they needed done by today. (They first contacted me on MONDAY )

I've got a possible shot at turning this into a steady gig if I play my cards right. I'll keep you updated. Thanks again for the responses everyone. You guys are GREAT!
