  • Respirator question?

Not sure who address this to Matt or Shelly.........When I retired from the military I had just been computer fitted
with a new http://www.msanorthamerica.com/catalog/product582.html MSA Comfo Classic half mask respirator (a yearly reqiurement for my job). I am now using that respirator in my shop. It has the combo GME- P100 filter which is good for particulate and vapor so I use it both in the booth and when I am stripping because when heated the stripper fumes will knock you on your ass.

My question is, at some point you guys might consider selling these......what made me think of this is looking at the picture on the cover of this months Powder Coating, that guy has a dust mask on that is completely covered with powder I am sure he was picking red buggers for a week......not a good thing.

I'm just using the basic dust mask, but I'm also using some old skydive goggles to keep dust out of my eyes. The goggles keep the blast of heat out when the door is opened up, too.

MSA has a full face also I had considered getting that for when I have jobs that are using a ton of powder cause alot of times my eyes will start stinging and watering (this depends on what powder I am using also), but I was wondering if I would have to keep wiping the lens to see out of it.

I don't have a prob with that on my goggles, I would imagine the full face would be the same.

What supplied air system are you using? I was going to get one of these because I've had some requests to paint some bikes, but don't want to spray the clear without a SAS. I think they came out with some kit where you can use the shop compressor. The kit filters the air some special way, so its ok to breathe...

I need a full face that accomodates glasses, because after 3 feet I'm blind.

We are not using a suppied air system, I was just looking at a full face to use as a conventional type with the P-100 filters. I need to get a couple of new half masks, one for my business partner who has been doing sales but we are hoping to have him full time within the next year. We also need an extra one because occasionally we will have someone from the the local fourms we sponser come in and we do a hands on walk through on stripping/shooting their own parts then post the pics on the forums (really gives the rest of the people on the forums a better idea of what all is involved and why our cost is not next to free lol)

heh I have enough health issues as it is, no reason to make sure there is no chance of any more problems from doing this.........there was a loooooooong thread about the risks of certain powders 6mo or so ago...........and like I said one wiff of the heated stripper will literally knock you over, no way I am going to breathe any of that.
