  • Oops! How many of you have done this?

    You're gonna laugh....
I finally picked up some MEK to test my cures. Most of the stuff I still have around here is pretty good. The first couple of pieces I did were terrible. I decided this afternoon to trow them back in the oven. Well I got sidetracked on another project and forgot about them..... for 5 HOURS!!!! There goes my electric bill! Good thing the wife didn't catch me!

While I'm on the subject, I used Rosey's Royal Blue on them. Even after the extended cure I still get a slight amount of blue rubbing off. When I test with the MEK should I see any color at all?

I can't wait till tomorrow to see them in the sun. I wonder how the powder held up.

I didn't think of that. I believe thermosetting powder takes 24 hours to fully harden. That being said, when originally tested the parts had been coated for 3 months. I'll retest this afternoon.

Well, Imust say 5 hours @ 400 didn't affect the gloss too much. It's been a couple of days and I did the MEK test again and I still get a very little blue rubbing off. Since cure is now ruled out could it be the powder? Do all powders hold up to this test? Does how much or how hard I rub make a difference?
