  • Motorcycle rim masking

I was given a set of M/C rims to practice on and want to use them as a show piece instead of selling them.

I want to add a pin stripe around the lip like what his face did on his black/red vette rims. How do you mask off a perfect circle 1/8" wide? A vinyl cutter? If so how would you center that?

    thanks!

    LOTS of patience!

Let me know how it turns out. I had a customer ask if I could do that. I said "of course, but it'll cost you." I didn't say WHAT it would cost him, because I had no idea how long it would take.

    Best of luck.

I haven't tried it yet, but I've got some multi line pin stripe tape that I got just to try that with. It's fairly wide and you peel off the line/s that you want.

I think I'll bend some craft paper into a cone so I have a large circle, then center it on the rim lip and trace a line.

Its the only thing I can think of to get a circle.

You could use a compass or a t square and use the outside edge of the wheel for the straight edge.

This is what I was thinking.

Got a striper ( dragger ) for doing pin striping? Use the liquid to powder and lay it on and cure. No masking, if you have a steady hand.
