My floor is sheetmetal and I believe it's insulated. Ted's Fab built my oven maybe Ted will say. I know I don not lose any heat at all.

The best floor is insulated with tracks to roll your cart in. I can send you pictures later I'm not on my computer right now.

Thanks Ted. I figured it was I lose no heat even through the floor.

              Re: Oven Floor?

I started with an insulated floor and decided I wanted the extra capacity so I cut it out and left the oven flat on the concrete. I have had no issues and very little loss of warm up time. The upside is I can place my racks anywhere I need them in the oven now and gained 4" of height.

Id love to see some pics, and how they seal, im trying to build an oven that will be designed with no floor for the purpose of being able to roll the cart right in.

I have a rubber sweep on the bottom of my door made from rubberized conveyor belt that is rated at 700 deg.

What did you do for attaching it to the floor after cutting the botom out? Do some kind of concrete buildup and then set the oven on that?

I was curious because he said he gained four inches of height.

Well my oven started as a parking garage booth in a previous life.. The booth was welded to channel all the way around with steel diamond plate on top of that so I just cut all the diamond plate and supporting braces out of the bottom leaving the channel. I havent done it yet but I plan to lag it to the floor on the sides.
