Screwing around trying to restore and paint the wife's 84 BMW and helping my son remount is boom in his truck and get it painted. I hate cheep paint but when you don't have in dag money you use what you have or by the cheapest thing out there. And when you do you pay for it correcting it for sure but at lest I have something to aggravate me I guess beside CPC2

When you go from 100,000 + a year to 14,400 a year and then no body has any extra money for coating or painting you come under screwed,income wise and that's where I am at. Hope the hell the rest of you guys have a good job or people paying for coating because its not here for sure.

After it reached 400 ( i was in the other room of my shop smoking yummy stuff in my pipe). All at once I hear this ignition and then a BANG! and then Slam! The cleaner wasn't all gone and it ignited.
So much for that kind of cleaning It blew the door open and then it slammed shut. What a shock that was. Lesson learned...

You smoke stuff in the oven , and to blow up shit you make a pipe bomb

not the other way around-

I smokee stuff in my oven all the time ( I said OVEN) sometimes on the pre-bake and sometimes during. I use a cleaner from Northern that is made for pressure washers and use it straight most of the time and keep some mixed also. I buy it in the 5 gal size for under $30. You don't want it to splash back at you. It be mean and you know it quick. Just a little would be good to strip a Shelly quick

I may as well add this little tid-bit. I have a valve cover that was pretty greasy. So I placed in my cleaning tank, which is a mix of kerosene and something else I can't think of right now. Anyway, after soaking for a day or two, I took it out and washed it down after it drip dried for a day and blew off. I have a kitchen oven for smaller stuff (valve cover) so in it went for and out gas and burn off of grease/oil I missed or couldn't get too.

I am guessing your next stop was to the bathroom and then to the dresser for some clean underware. Would be mine anyways.

I just used Simple green/tsp mixed with hot water and it worked great on all the oil residue/dirt.

I find myself doing quite a few valve covers so I've run into this a few times... having had any problems yet, but I want to ask anyway to make sure I'm headed in the right direction.

Most of the valve covers I get are not too bad. They are somewhat dirty and have very little oil on the outside surface. I usually clean 'em, blast them, and wash them down well before off gassing. There's usually a bit of oil on the inside that will burn off and come out of the oven every time I open the door, usually 2-3 times. By the time I'm ready to shoot powder and cure there's very little oil left to burn.

However, every once in a while I will get a valve cover that has A LOT of oil on the inside. Places where I can't really wash down or hit with the blaster. I usually stick these in the oven and off gas them for 1+ hour. Usually open the door every few minutes and let all that oil smoke out. I got this pig sitting in the oven for almost an hour already, and it just keeps smoking itself out.

Does this have any sort of negative impact on the surface? I can't imagine it does much that could actually hurt the powder once it cures, but I want to make sure. Also, is there a better way to clean the inside? There is usually areas that cannot be reached, so burning the oil off is the only way I can really deal with it. Any suggestions? Thanks guys!
