I don't know how many use the red scotchbrite 5" wheels w/ arbor, but they work great! I'm trying to get these wheels as smooth as poss, so after the first coat I used the disc in my electric drill and went to town on them. Sure beats doing all that sanding by hand! Works good for scuffing chrome also...
I use them to help strip stuff. I usually go over parts that I have use aircraft stripper on. I sometimes use a steel wire wheel in the drill while the stripper is on the surface to help remove the large stuff then once the part is rinsed I go over it with the wheel shown to remove the tidbits left and smooth out the surface. Works great. Just wish they had it in various sizes down to 1in to get into tight places.
