I have spent about 9 hours trying to sandblast a BMX frame. It has a layer of paint, a layer of primer, and then on the bottom, a layer of powder coat. The paint and primer came off with no problem, but the powder is being miserable. I have tried powder coat removers, super high strength paint strippers, almost everything i can think of. I am thinking about putting a grinder to it with a sanding wheel, but seeing it is all 1 1/4" tubing, I am afraid of the grinder marks being noticable. Any ideas or suggestions?

Re: REALLY stubborn powder removal
I have heard of some reds bleeding through before. I have never had it happen personally, but I have heard of it. The only time I have heard of it is when someone has applied a new red color and tried another color over that, I do not know if an older more cured coat would bleed or not.

Re: REALLY stubborn powder removal
If you still need to remove whatever the base coat is, consider a commercial blaster. These guys do this for a living and should be able to get it to bare metal in about 15 minutes.
Sometimes, it worth the time/money/effort saved to farm out such work.
