Re: ah WTH ?? candy lime green
In your preparation explanation, I noted you never mentioned off/out gassing the part. If you didn't off/out gas the part, this may be the reasoning behind this "bumps". When you degreased and cleaned the part it probably left contaminants in the metal, then when you heated the part up to either shoot or cure, the pores in the metal opened thus releasing those contaminants and damaging the powder from inside out.
I could be wrong, but I hope this sheds a little light.Comment

Well after 6 trys I said F it. these were just blank steel templates, I degreased them and also used brake parts cleaner on them after degreasing to make sure they were clean. I applied my base, I used extreme chrome, mirror white, gray metallic, and silver on several of pieces. The base coat would come out fine, but the candy coat did this everytime(look at pictures). What is causing this? I am using a POS HF gun also if that helps any. sorry for the crappy picture camera phones arent all that great. also when i try to do a candy coat over a base, i cant get powder adhesion around the edges its like it repels powder. I tried putting the candy coat on when the part reached 150 but still didnt seem to work.

Re: ah WTH ?? candy lime green
Is your oven clean? I ask because that looks like contamination of some sort. Since you say your base coat looks good I would rule out the air/gun issue. If your oven is dirty/greasy is could be spreading grease or something on top of your base coat. Also check you cure time and temps. You should be starting your timer when the part reaches temp. If you're starting the timer when you load the parts your cure time will be wrong.Comment
